Winter Adventures

Hello, 50C WRL! Welcome to our class blog. This is the place where you will brainstorm and share ideas with each other.

You may be wondering about my profile picture. This vacation I went to India with my husband. In the photo we had just arrived at a hotel in Udaipur and a woman had put a necklace on me and a red dot on my forehead. In the Hindu religion the red dot signifies the woman is married. So, during this trip, I was able to experience a completely different culture and way of life for two weeks. I saw some spectacular sights and met wonderful people. I will certainly never forget this trip. In fact I hope to go back to another part of India in the future.

After you read what I wrote, respond to it and tell what you did for the month before CESL began the Spring session today.

    MY WINTER HOLIDAY
Holiday was one of the most expectant period for every students. Many teenagers prepared a wonderful plan about the vocation. So did I, I had a great memory in the holiday.
I went to Mexico with my friends before the Christmas. We visited my friend's hometown, the name was Hermosillo. I had to say it was an amazing travel for us. There were tree aspects left their imprint on my mind.
First of all, I found the Mexican could have fun all the night in holiday. Because I never went to bed before five o' clock in Mexico! Every night, we had different places to relax ourself. By the way, all of the places need ID.
In addition, the beach of Hermosillo is awesome! I never saw a sea as blue as there. Even people can find fish in the ocean. We drove jet-ski as fast as possible, the prise was cheaper than it in China. And you could do everything if you want. However, I fell into the sea because of large wave, it was so cold! At the same time, I lost my sunglasses. Whatever, I still felt so excited about the activity and landscape.
Last but not least, the Mexican were so kind and friendly, and the Mexican food was so yummy. My friend's mom who was a nice and charming lady, she could cook the traditional Mexican food. If we need some help, she always appeared just in time. It was a reason why every guys called her"mom lulu".
In a word, Mexico attracted me totally due to the natural view, the friendly people and the delicious food. Thanks for my friends, we had a memorable vocation! In future, I have a plan to go to the country again with my family.

  2. I'm so glad you had a chance to visit Mexico, Lonny. Hermosillo is a great city. It sounds like you went to Kino Bay, near Hermosillo. I do hope you get the chance to go back with your family too!

  6. Hi Ellen!
I'm Giang. Congratulate you on your nice trip! Although I have never been India, I can imagine many beautiful sights and the good people who are Indian. I wish I had a chance to go to India.
About me, I had no time for trip or going somewhere before I came to Tucson because I had to prepare many things. However, I had some small funny party with my friend. I thought that was enough for me before I go abroad.

    1. Dear Giang,
Well, before you come to a faraway place these is MUCH to prepare! Also, since you have your younger brother with you, that is an extra responsibility. I am glad though that you had a fun party before you left to come to Tucson.

  7. Hi Ellen,

    My name is Ryosuke Yatsunami.

Your trip to India sounds great. My friend has also been to India a couple years before, but his passport was stolen and unfortunately he spent another 2 weeks in India. However,if I have a chance,I would like to visit India with my family.

I have spent my time with my wife and son for this winter vacation. Before coming to USA, I really would like to eat typical Japanese food since I might not be able to eat them in Tucson. We have eaten Sushi,Tenpura,Okonomiyaki and etc which I really like. And we have also enjoyed traditional new year foods in Japan called Osechi.I didn't do any special activities like my classmate but to spend my time with family was good memories for me before leaving Japan.

Now I would like to enjoy the classes.

    Thank you,
    Ryosuke

  8. Dear Ryosuke,
I can see why just spending time with your family was the most important thing you could do before leaving Japan. I'm glad you enjoyed great Japanese food before you left too. You'll have to show me a picture of your family, maybe tomorrow.

Miss Ellen, I've read your story, and I have to say that I kind of envy you on the matter that the month before CESL was very depressing because I got turned down for 2 scholarships, but luckily, hit it off with the 3rd, even then, I wasn't the least excited because I had to do a lot of paper work that was required by the ministry of higher education, but due to the fact that I went to Dubai for a week to blow off steam, and let me tell you: it was amazing, specially that I went with my friends, we had lots of fun going to various water parks, iconic buildings and last but not least, malls.

But arriving to the US was... interesting to say the least, Coming alone I expected it to be harsh and merciless, and many people told me that I WILL be feeling home sick, let's just say... I am home.

sorry to bother you with all this writing, but I got carried away, and uhhh... see you Friday miss Ellen. :)

    1. Dear Abdullah,

What you wrote is NOT a bother. I am really glad to hear about what you did and how you finally got a scholarship. Congratulations on that! I am glad also that you feel Tucson is like home for you (I think that is what you meant anyway.) Tucson is not a big city, but if you like doing things outdoors there are a lot of things to do.

Hi, Ellen I’m glad you went to India because there are a lot of places to visit like taj mahal but I do’t know if visited or no. So, it is good go somewhere to see and know new cultures.
However, for me I didn’t go my country in this vacation, but I went to Rochester city in minnesota to visit my family in the hospital and I went to mall of America in minneapolis city the bigger mall in America. Also, this stat is very cold and the temperature is lower the zero degree. Then, it was a good trip and is wasn’t long just for a week and went back to study in Tucson.

    2. Dear Saeed,
I'm sorry someone in your family is in the hospital. I hope it isn't too serious. I have been to Mall of the Americas and it is huge. I agree though that it is very cold in Minneapolis in the winter. You probably like the winter in Tucson a little better.

  12. Hi allen,I'm Chen Bin

A journey on holiday is really attractive.About two years ago,I had a liner trip with my familys and friends to Japan,Which I enjoyed myself so much.

That was the first time for me to take a liner trip,Which made me awake whole the night before the departure. The liner worth my insomnia;things on liner was all awesome. There are also many activities to enjoy ourselves, such as the Cate Club,Art of Ice,Magic Show and so on.

After three days,we arrived in Kagoshima and it's fortunate for us to see the volcanic eruption which was sublime and shocked me.Then we went to the Asahi Beer Factory——I love beer very much,I knew the process of producing Asahi beer and we tried the beer which was just produced.I just felt on top of the world.

And I hope I will go to India with my family in the near future.

    A Good Experience
People has may happens in them life. Some of them are good happens and some of them bad. There are entreating positions you cannot forget it. I have many experiences in my life. I would like to tell you about my story when I came to the U.S . . How I decided, arrived and my study .
When I graduated from university I was not excited to found a job. I wanted to take rest after the university. two months after the university I went to visit some countries. When I came back to my country I took relax until I felt bored. I was thinking about complete my study but I was not sure for this idea. I talked to my family and friends about it they said it is great idea. Than I decided to continue my study .
I arrived to the U.S on march 2011. Everything was different to me. Different people , different culture , different language . I did know speak English, when I met with somebody just I said “hello , how are you ”. The weather was cold , first time I saw snow I cannot express how was my feeling ! . I found some people from my country and I felt good and comfortable after that .
I went to Los Angles to study there for few months. It was a pretty city and a nice people . I visited many place in LA like hollowed and six flags etc .. . I met with a new friends were a good friends . I learned a little bit English after that I changed my school to came to Tucson . I have been in Tucson almost nine months . I have been learning English until I get Tofel test after that I will look to University to complete my master degree .

I think it was a great experience in my life .it is good to see to other culture . Some time you heard to news about something but when you see to be different . I think everybody can to visit other countries have to do it . you have to see the world around you. If you want to learn more about cultures visit all countries you can visit it .
