Hi Class,
This week we will be doing a comparison/contrast essay. Since I was just in India, I thought of several differences between India and the U.S. One in particular is breakfast. At all the hotels in India we were served American breakfasts, if that is what we wanted; however, we also had the choice of Indian food for breakfast. Sometimes I had soup with lentils, rice, fresh fruit and Indian bread. We always had tea with milk too. In Tucson I usually eat oatmeal with walnuts and raisins, toast with butter and jam and tea for breakfast.
I really enjoyed the Indian breakfasts, but I was also happy to have my usual food in my home too.
I would like you to compare something between your country and the U.S. (or just Tucson). What is one difference? Maybe it has to do with food, meals, clothes, or customs. Tell your classmates about it and respond to two people. Do this by Friday, the 24th.

I read your blog and I fully understand your topic. Firstly, I want to thank about your classes in week. Next I will tell you about some differences between Vietnam and America. The meals of both countries is very different. In my country, making a meal needs a careful preparation and there are many steps in that. In contrast, the American always eat the fast food or their meals are more simple than Vietnamese means. Another difference, I want to talk about the clothes. Yes, they are a difference too. The American clothes are more comfortable and bigger than Vietnamese clothes. It is because the Americans are bigger than Vietnamese. More over, they wear more simply than Vietnamese when they go out side without formal places or meeting.
Although there are many differences between these countries, I only show two differences to you.

ReplyDeleteThis is Ryosuke.When I bought beers,whiskeys and wines in the US, Americans always ask for us to show my ID. Of course, I look like teenagers so that they request me to do it. However,in contrast with America, almost Japanese don't ask for us to show ID, when we bought alcohol drinks and cigarettes even if we look like under 20 years old and actually are under 20 years old. The reason why they hesitate to ask for us is to avoid troubles. We don't have a custom that we frequently show our ID to someone and especially a specific ID to show who I am, so that it looks strange and causes argument if someone are forced to show us ID. American systems is much better and effective than Japanese one because there are so many teenagers who are smoking and drinking without showing their ID in Japan. To be honest,I was one of them. I hope Japanese government makes rules not to sell them to teenagers in the near future.

There are a lot of differences between Saudi Arabia and United States, but the only difference that I realize since I my feet touched US's land is when I saw all women with no cover. Women in Saudi Arabia are covered their bodies and faces with black colth called(Abaya) in contrast to Saudi Arabia, women in United States do not cover their body and their faces with black cloth.

ReplyDeleteThis is li,Actually China and the United States are totally different.I have concern over such a thing.One day,i went back to my apartment.I saw a package outside my door.I have no idea at that time.It couldn't for someone else forgot the things here.Only one possible is my neighbors put the garbage out my door.I began to think that whether i did something wrong or not.But when pick up the package......omg.....it is my amazon package,how could they do that,they deliver package in this way?????just thrown my package out my door?????what can i do if someone Stolen my package after ups delivered????It hard to understand at that time.In china Transportation companies never do this,we need to sign every package for ourselves or go to postal service center to take your mail.
Now i understand,the workers in Transportation companies are very responsible(in china Transportation companies can not guarantee that its staffs' responsiblity).The United States has a complete legal system to protect consumers,and we always have good neighbours,They never take away your package.

DeleteI was surprised with American ways too.In Japan,once we receive missing notices from couriers, we are able to request them to re-delivery our packages.Besides,we can also request the date and time of re-delivery.

ReplyDeleteI would like to share with you big different between me country Qatar and her in U.S. this thing is the relationship between the family and the people all around us. In my country the family partners has such a strong relation ship they live with each others and the all help each other in every think even though they are old they steel caries about each other , but in U.S what i am seeing is when the child be came 18 years old he have to find anther place to live in and they are likely to be self caring, thank you

ReplyDeletethis is Omar Albuaijan. there are many differences between Kuwait and Tucson. First, in Kuwait every morning I wake up and find my breakfast has already been made for me but here I should make it and usually I don't have time for it here. Second, in Kuwait we used to eat home made food but here not. And that is more healthier if I ate home made food. Third, the streets here is very crushed not like Kuwait they always repair it. finally, I see that here family's relationship is not strong as it in Kuwait. In my country families still together from they born until death. One the causes of the strong relationships of families in my country that they usually eat together. there are a lot of differences between Kuwait and Tucson, but I write 4 of the most differences.

I'm really missing my family and county because in my country when I woke up in the morning I find the breakfast prepared in the dinning room. So, I eat which I want to eat and sometimes I drink a tea.
After I eat I go to the school in my country or anywhere without thinking in about the meals, breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Not like her in Tucson when I wake up sometimes I should prepare my food by myself or I go to any coffee to eat or to drink a tea. Also, the lunch and dinner I usually, eat out of my house because this is the easy way to do. Because If want to I cook at home it takes time and we don't have time to spend except studying.
